Detailed Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive Chennai
Your flight reaches Chennai in the late evening. Avail our personalized service and transfer to the hotel. Relax overnight in the hotel.
Day 2: Chennai
After breakfast we start the Chennai city tour in the morning and among the places we see includes historic Fort St George and St Mary's Church, St Thomas Cathedral .After an enjoyable tour of the city we return to hotel for lunch.
We have specially kept the afternoon free because we know you came late last evening and you need to relax. You spend the night in Chennai.
Day 3: Mahabalipuram
Today in the morning we get to see here the fine examples of Tamil architecture in the Kanchepuram Temples, Kailasanatha Temple and Vaikunda Perumal Temple. We have our lunch in Kanchepuram and then drive to Mahabalipuram, the seven pagodas city. We spend the night in Mahabalipuram.
Day 4: Mahabalipuram
There are so many things to see in Mahabalipuram so we have reserved a full day for this city. Miles of unspoiled beaches and stunning rock carvings wait for you at Mahabalipuram.Enjoy the full day city tour which also includes visiting the remnants of the Shore Temple which are a World Heritage Monument.
Come back have your lunch and then you are left to spend some time by yourself. Relax in the luxurious hotel or walk on the sun kissed beach. You spend the night at Mahabalipuram.
Day 5: Pondicherry
Today on day five we drive to Pondicherry, the city created by the French colonists. Experience bliss and soulful journey while exploring the extensive Sri Aurobindo Ashram. In the afternoon you visit the Matri Mandir at Auroville, an evolving city. Night is spent at Pondicherry.
Day 6: Arrive at Chidambaram
Today you have to get up early and have your breakfast as we leave Pondicherry to arrive at Chidambaram. We have to go early so that we can be in time to witness the 10-30am morning Chidambaram temple worshipping ceremony. We have enough time after that to pay a short visit to the holy Mahamaham Tank, if you want you can take a dip here, at Kumbukonam and then we also go to see Airavateswarar Temple at Darasuram.
Day 7: Tanjore
We now come to Tanjore which is also known as rice bowl of Tamil Nadu It is famous for Brihadisvara Temple which is in the list of World Heritage Monument built by King Rajarajan, has marvelous architecture.
Brihadisvara, then we visit the Art Gallery and Mahal Library within the Palace at Tanjore to faest your eyes on wonderful art and cart of Tanjore. We drive to Trichy after lunch. Afternoon is spent in relaxation.
Day 8: Tiruchirappalli
We start our journey with the exploration of Ranganatha Vishnu Temple. Here you can view the religious ceremony of people performing last death rites of the persons dead on the bank of River Cauvery. Then climb the 437 steps to the 83m high Rock Fort and Ranganatha Temple at sunset for scintillating view of the River Cauvery delta and Srirangam Island.
Day 9: Trichy
Today on day nine also we explore Trichy further and rarely visit ancient sites near Trichy including Moovar Koil Temple at Kodumbalur, ancient cave temples of the Jains at Sittannavasal and Pudukottai having a museum with wide range of sculptures. We return to Trichy after lunch.
Day 10: Madurai
Travel to Madurai en route the posh Chettinad area with palatial bungalows and a fine example of Chettiar Palace. Afternoon is left for exploration of Madurai. We see the magnificent gopurams of Meenakshi temple. Spend your night in Madurai.
Day 11: Departure to Destination
South India Tour Travel arranges for the return journey and transfer to airport or railway station is arranged .From where you can start onward journey to Mumbai, Bangalore or Delhi.
